Physical Education
At Hayden Recreation Centre, our Physical Education (P.E.) programs are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and most of all—FUN! We believe that every child, regardless of skill level, should have the opportunity to move, learn, and grow in a positive, supportive environment
Move, Play, and Grow with Hayden's P.E. Programs!

Team Sports
Learn the fundamentals of popular team sports in a fun and supportive environment. Classes focus on building skills, practicing drills, and learning teamwork through game play. Great for kids looking to stay active, make friends, and develop confidence on the court or field.

Offerings may include programs such as Basketball, Soccer, Floor Hockey, Flag Football, or Ultimate Frisbee.

Individual Sports
Develop focus, coordination, and self-discipline through sports where individual skill is the key. These programs help participants build confidence as they learn techniques, improve fitness, and challenge themselves at their own pace.

Offerings may include programs such as Archery, Tennis, Pickleball, or Track & Field.
Ninjas Programs
Inspired by obstacle course challenges, our Ninja program builds strength, agility, and confidence through climbing, jumping, swinging, and balancing activities. Kids will test their speed and endurance as they tackle fun and creative obstacle courses!
Offerings may include programs such as Nugget Ninjas or Junior Ninja Training.


Fitness & Skills
A mix of movement-based activities designed to build strength, flexibility, and agility. These classes give kids the chance to try new activities, stay active, and discover the joy of fitness through playful and engaging challenges.

Offerings may include programs such as Sports Sampler, Yoga for Kids, or PE Fitness.

Recreational Games
High-energy activities that keep kids moving while having fun. From fast-paced games to friendly competitions, these programs focus on participation, teamwork, and excitement rather than competition.

Offerings may include programs such as Ultimate Dodgeball or Middle School Dodgeball.
Youth/Adult/Member Parent Open Gym
Open Gym takes place in our basketball court and is available at scheduled times throughout the week for different groups, including youth (by age group), adults, and member/guardian sessions. During Open Gym, members are welcome to use our gym equipment and enjoy independent activities like shooting hoops, practicing skills, or joining a game of pick-up basketball — a frequent favorite!
Weight Room
Our weight room offers a no-frills, functional space for strength and cardio training. It includes 3 squat racks, a classic pulley machine system, a variety of free weights and kettlebells, and cardio options: a treadmill, elliptical and air bike. The space was refreshed in 2019 and provides a solid setup for all experience levels.
