Summer Camps

 

The Recreation Centre is looking to fill several summer positions with high energy, enthusiastic and creative individuals.  We are seeking activity directors and counselors for our summer camps.  Applicants must have experience working with children.  First Aid and CPR certifications are mandatory (we will provide training).

 

Pool Director: (Hours 9:00-5:00 Mon-Fri)

Requirements- Lifeguard, CPR and first aid certified.  WSI preferred.  At least four years or more experience working with children/at least 2 in a leadership position.  Must have experience teaching swimming lessons. Campers are age 4 to grade 9.

·          Oversees lifeguards and swim instructors

·         Manages pool staff schedule

·         Manages pool schedule

·         Organizes swim lessons for all summer camps

·         Participate in one of our overnights

·         Input all swim records into database

 

Recreation Director: (Hours 8:30-4:00 Mon-Fri)

Requirements- At least four years of experience working with children/at least two leading large groups in recreational activities.  The ability to plan and execute varied sports and recreation activities. Campers are grades 1-6.

·          Plan and implement various appropriate activities for various age groups

·         Manage and lead counselors who are visiting activity

·         Create and organize lesson plans, ideas, supplies and follow-up notes

·         Participate in one of our overnights         

 

Art Director: (Hours 8:30-4:00 Mon-Fri)

Requirements- At least four years of experience working with children/at least two leading large groups of children.  The ability to plan and execute varied art projects. Campers are grades 1-6.

·          Plan for an implement appropriate activities according to camp themes and events

·         Create lesson plans and ideas- order appropriate supplies

·         Manage and lead staff who are visiting activity

·         Participate in one of our overnights

 

Tricon Group Director: (Hours 8:00-4:00 Mon-Fri)

Requirements- Associates Degree in Education or Childcare.  At least four years of experience working with children/at least two in a leadership role. Campers are age 4 and 5.

·          Plan for an implement appropriate activities according to camp themes and events

·         Lead supporting counselors and children in executing the daily schedule

·         Maintain open communication with Camp Tricon Director on group’s progress

·         Follow established protocol for a fun and safe summer!

 

Counselor: (Hours 8:30-4:00 Mon-Fri) (Day Camp, Tricon, Trip Camp, Spotlight)

Requirements- At least two years of experience working with children. Day Camp campers are grades 1-6, Tricon campers are age 4 and 5, Trip Camp campers are grades 6-8 and Spotlight campers are grades 1-8.

·          Oversee and support children in daily activities

·         Execute activities planned by activity directors

·         Follow established protocol for a fun and safe summer!

 

Trip & Adventure Director: (Hours 8:00-4:00)

Requirements- At least four years of experience working with children/at least two leading large groups of children.  LGT preferred.  The ability to fulfill administrative duties of scheduling and booking field trips for children.  Lead and manage supporting staff. Campers are grades 6-8.

·          Contact and schedule necessary vendors for daily field trips

·         Communicate with bus driver regarding necessary drop off and pick up times

·         Oversee and assign tasks to supporting staff

·         Maintain children’s whereabouts and well-being throughout the day

 

Extended Day Counselor:  (Hours 3:00-6:00 Mon-Fri)

Requirements:  At least 2 years of experience working with children. Campers are age 4 to grade 6.

·         Oversee and support children during activities set forth by Extended Day Director

·         Follow established protocol for a fun and safe summer!

 

Spotlight Camp Head Counselor:  (Hours 8:00-4:00 Mon Fri)

Requirements- At least three years of experience working with children/at least one in a leadership role.  Oversee supporting group staff. Campers are grades 1-8.

·          Lead supporting counselors and children in executing the daily schedule

·         Maintain open communication with Spotlight Camp Director on group’s progress

·         Follow established protocol for a fun and safe summer!
