Gardening.jpg

In the spring we will prepare seedling plants that will be transferred into the garden bed. Gardeners will learn about companion gardening - where vegetables are planted next to herbs or flowers that will help ward off pests and help enhance the flavors of vegetables, and continue working on the perennial beds in front of the building. Maintaining our garden by weeding, and watering will be of utmost importance

In the fall gardeners will prepare Hayden’s outdoor space for spring! We’ll
plant bulbs (tuilps, crocus, etc) and move plantlings that have had the summer to grow. We’ll research full sun perennials that bloom during different times of the year, and fertilize, prepare the Hayden field’s garden bed, start a composting system, and make window boxes for planting herbs such as basil, thyme and cilantro.
